The speakers in detail:
Prof. Dr. Goh Bee See
Dr. Goh is the Director of Institute of Ear, Hearing and
Speech, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Professor
of Otorhinolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery
at The National University of Malaysia (UKM), Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia. She has been a lecturer at the Faculty
of Medicine UKM since June 2003, graduated with Medical
Degree in UKM in 1996 and completed her Otorhinolaryngology-Head
and Neck Surgery residency at the same institution in May 2003 and received Marhakim Award as the Best Candidate. In 2007, she further her training in paediatric ENT at Cincinnati Children Medical
Centre, Ohio, USA and clinical attachment at Great Ormond
Street Hospital, London in 2012.
Her clinical practice in the tertiary hospital has centered on the management
of paediatric ENT and passionate in the management of hearing loss. She has performed many cochlear implant operation, BAHA implants and other ear surgeries. She has also authored more than 60 journal articles and
active in conducting research in the related field. Dr Goh
has delivered many lectures in local, regional and international
scientific meetings.
Associate Professor Dr. Rafidah Mazlan
Associate Professor Dr Rafidah Mazlan is a senior lecturer
and the Head of the Audiology Programme, School of
Rehabilitation Sciences at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
She received her first degree in Audiology from UKM.
In 2009, she received her Doctor in Philosophy from the
University of Queensland.
Her research and clinical interests
are in all facets of pediatric audiology but she has a
special interest in the field of early identification and
diagnosis of hearing loss and middle ear assessment in
young infants. Her research articles have appeared in
peer-reviewed key international journals in the audiology
field. She has also written book chapters on assessing
middle ear function in infants.
Dr. Noor Dina Hashim
Dr. Noor Dina Hashim is an ENT Surgeon and a Lecturer
at UKM Medical Center (UKMMC). She received her Medical
Degree from UKM in 2005. She work as an ENT Specialist
since 2013. She is also part of Cochlear Implant
and Combine Cleft Team at UKMMC. Her budding interest
is in Otology.
Ms. Tey Shi Rou
Ms. Shi Rou works as a pediatric speechlanguage
pathologist in the Institute of Ear, Hearing and
Speech (Institute-HEARS), UKM. She works closely with
families and the children with hearing impairment, including
running one-to-one intensive therapy, conducting
playgroup and parents support group regularly.
Early this
year, Shi Rou attended an auditory-verbal training program
in Cochlear Training and Experience Centre, Jakarta
for a month and she is also currently working towards
the certification as a Listening Language Specialist (LSLS
Cert. AVT).
